Navigating the anti-DEI, anti-academic movement toward
pro-love and pro-education.

Education for All  is a collaborative network of thought leaders dedicated to supporting higher education leaders in addressing the complex challenges of today's polarized landscape. We provide innovative tools, strategic guidance, and tailored resources to help institutions navigate anti-DEI pressures, champion inclusivity, and build resilient, equitable campuses. Through professional development, policy insights, and ongoing engagement, we empower college presidents and stakeholders to lead with confidence, foster transformative change, and safeguard the mission of higher education.
As this movement is still emerging, the higher education sector has had limited time to craft comprehensive strategies to support leaders in navigating this complex and evolving terrain. We provide thoughtful professional development, forward-thinking guidance, and tailored resources designed to help leaders champion inclusive excellence while addressing institutional priorities.

History of the Anti-DEI Movement

The Anti-DEI movement has roots that stretch back over six decades. Since the 1960s, the number of Black, Brown, women, and LGBTQ+ students has grown significantly, with Black and Brown student enrollment increasing by nearly 200%. As each decade passed, campuses became more diverse, reflecting broader societal shifts. However, this progress has been met with escalating resistance. Legislation aimed at restricting access, curtailing support, and limiting diverse perspectives—alongside accurate representations of history and knowledge—has proliferated. In the current decade, this opposition has also been accompanied by an alarming rise in violence compared to previous decades.

1960-70

Campus unrest leads to narrative of higher education being liberal; UCLA Chancellor fired as part of Reagan Governorship of California

1980-1990

The Closing of the American Mind advocates for eradicating women’s and black studies in favor of an ‘essential truth.’ The book becomes a centerpiece of anti-multiculturalism.

2000-2010

Major political campaigns rail against ‘multiculturalism;’ TurningPoint USA forms with explicit mission of eradicating DEI; creates Professor Watchlist, threatening scholars who teach race, class, gender, and historically accurate versions of society and history.

1970-80

Southern strategy advocates for colorblindness with regard to policy and practice in a context that has implemented affirmative action.

1990-2000

Arizona bans multiculturalism from curriculum.

2010 - Current

Executive Orders focusing on Divisive Concepts prohibit topics of historical and sociological truth; banning of books begun nationally; broad attacks on diversity statements; repeal of race-conscious admissions; white supremacists gather at UVA; bomb threats at HBCUs, community colleges, and state schools.
